TOPIC:   Planning for Aging: Part 2 (Litigation Issues, Daily Money Management and Home Care)

America is aging at an alarming rate.  By 2050 “seniors” will make up over 23% of the US population.  With better health care comes longer living and the associated issues of care, capacity, and outliving your finances.  Aging issues are equal opportunity, and the costs are astronomical.  Long term care can run from $2,500 to $25,000 a month out of pocket.  The potential for financial abuse – from family members and/or outsiders – is frightening when dealing with diminishing capacity issues. Counseling families dealing with aging loved ones requires a holistic approach drawing resources from attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, medical advisors, and care advisors, among others.  Many clients, and their advisors, are unaware of how to spot, mitigate, and respond to aging issues.  In this two-part series, professionals who work with aging issues every day will highlight key issues and offer practical solutions for you to assist your clients.
